Free Patent Filing Assistance in Corning NY

To file for a patent, you need to know how to act in a certain way. You must be a pro se (pro per or propria persona), which means “for oneself.” There are many resources available to assist you in filling out the proper application and responding to examiners.

Small business

The USPTO’s Patent Pro Bono Program pairs volunteer patent professionals with small businesses and inventors who need help with patent applications. To qualify, small businesses and inventors must have a gross household income below three times the federal poverty level. Some regional programs may have additional eligibility requirements.

Micro-entity

Free patent filing assistance for micro-entities is critical to their success. As a micro-entity, you may not have a lawyer to represent you. Instead, you can use educational materials to fill out the proper application and respond to examiners.

‘Other References’ searches non-patented literature

The ‘Other References’ search option enables you to find non-patented literature related to a particular topic. This non-patent literature includes news, press releases, YouTube videos, and even movie clips. These sources provide an additional source of information that you may not have been aware of.

TIFF format is most “lossless”

Patents are generally presented in TIFF format, which is the most “lossless” image format. However, if you want to view a patent, you may have to use an image viewer, which is not always compatible with all browsers. This is because the TIFF format has limitations, such as the need to periodically refresh the page.
