Multi-turn counter sensor failure detection
Some aspects described herein involve a multi-turn counter (MTC) system that comprises a first MTC detector configured to sense that a rotating magnetic field coupled to a rotatable object. The very first MTC detector may have a first awareness of rotation detection. The MTC system may include a second MTC detector may be configured to sense the rotating magnetic field. The next MTC detector may have a second sense of spinning detection which is contrary to the first awareness of spinning detection, and the next MTC detector is configured to sense the rotating magnetic field according to the next sense of spinning.

A multi-turn counter (MTC) detector may be used to ascertain a number of turns of an external rotating magnetic field (e.g., a number of partial or full rotations of the magnetic field) produced by a magnet (e.g., a magnet attached to or formed aspart of a rotatable item ). The MTC detector may be a magnetoresistive (MR)-based detector (e.g., an anisotropic magnetoresistive (AMR) sensor, a tube magnetoresistive (TMR) detector, a giant magnetoresistive (GMR) sensor). On occasion, the MTCsensor may incorporate a domain wall generator which creates a domain wall on a magnetized strip of the MTC detector. The positioning of the domain wall on the magnetic strip of MTC sensor may be employed to count the number of turns of the external magnetic field.
