Patent Public Search is the official replacement of PubEAST, PatFT, and AppFT. It contains searchable full-text U.S. patents from 1970-Present and some pre-grant applications. The database also contains scanned patents from earlier years. However, this search engine does not include international patents, such as Australia.
The Patent and Trademark Resource Center is located on the third floor of the Central Library. While you can access some resources online, there is also a library staff on-site to answer any questions you may have. PTRC staff members are experts in patent research and are trained to use various search tools. They also bring the human touch when helping inventors or small businesses. However, the librarians cannot offer legal advice, so you should seek out a lawyer to help you with your case.
